How is it done: Solutions & Efficiency Retrofits
Once we know how well your home is performing from the performance testing we can begin to look for solutions for existing problems as well as opportunities for improvement. We will offer you a comprehensive report that illustrates the existing state of your home and offer options for improving it's energy efficiency, comfort, air quality and safety.
Typical solutions and retrofits may include:
- Sealing up air leaks from the attic, crawlspace, and walls.
- Improving and adding insulation.
- Placing a moisture barrier on the crawlspace ground. Managing other potential water sources away from the home.
- Reducing carbon monoxide levels through maintenance or replacement of poorly operating gas appliances.
- Sealing the leaks in the forced air ductwork.
- Replacing the heating/cooling systems with higher efficiency, smaller units.
- Installing ventilation fans or heat recovery ventilators to insure healthy indoor air.
- Reducing indoor pressure imbalances with vents, or additional ductwork.
